SPECIAL TO WEST HAWAII TODAY
Rumley’s Gallery, located in King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel, and the firm of Ginger Sandell, CPA, will sponsor a plein air art paint session on Jan. 28. The paintings created by the artists will be donated at a silent auction that evening for the benefit of Innovations Public Charter School.
Innovations services 185 students in first through eighth grades. It is best known for its student-centered learning in multiage groupings, inquiry and project-based focus, thematic integrative curriculum, arts and technology integration, parent participation, and its caring and experienced staff.
Fifteen artists have volunteered to paint. Organizers invite fellow artists who are interested in promoting the arts for Innovations to participate.
All artists will meet at 9:15 a.m. at the gallery. The paint-off will begin at 9:30 a.m. and artists have three hours to produce a plein air painting. Plein air paintings are painted on location. Artists must return to the gallery by 12:30 p.m. and give their paintings to Tess Rumley, who will work with Sandell and the staff at Innovations to prepare for the silent auction. There will be pupu and drinks. The auction begins at 4 p.m.
